The Ebonyi State Ministry of Education has launched the Ebonyi Digital Education Platform (EDEP) in a landmark ceremony attended by stakeholders from across the state. The platform, developed in partnership with Orangehub Engineering Limited , offers students free access to CBT practice tests, video lessons from qualified teachers, WAEC past questions, and a growing digital library. Commissioner Dr. Donatus Ilang described the launch as "a new chapter in Ebonyi's education story" and called on all students to register and take full advantage of the free resources available.

The Ebonyi State Ministry of Education has sealed two schools operating without approval — one at Onuebonyi in Abakaliki LGA and another at Ugwuachara in Ebonyi LGA. Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, Dr. Donatus C. Ilang, warned proprietors of unapproved private schools to regularize their status or face further sanctions, stressing that enforcement exercises will continue across the state to protect students and uphold educational standards.

Prospective school owners were advised to engage the Ministry for proper guidance and approval before commencing operations. Parents are directed to enroll children only in schools officially listed in the Ministry's approved schools directory, available on this platform.

Amaokpara Oshiri community has received official approval for the establishment of Umunnato Modern College, Amaopara Oshiri, Onicha Local Government Area — with effect from the 2025/2026 academic session. The approval, conveyed by Director/HOD Secondary Education Department Mrs. Mgboro C.O., reflects the Ebonyi State Ministry of Education's commitment to regulated and standards-driven educational development across the state.

The approval marks a significant step toward expanding access to quality secondary education in the Onicha LGA area. The Ministry reminded the school that approval will be withdrawn should they fail to sustain and improve on the academic facilities upon which the approval was granted.

Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has flagged off the construction of 39 model secondary schools across all 13 LGAs of Ebonyi State, fulfilling a key campaign promise to transform education infrastructure in the state. Each school is being built to a modern standard with purpose-built classrooms, science laboratories, libraries, and administrative blocks designed to provide conducive learning environments for Ebonyi's secondary school students.

The project, estimated to cost billions of naira, is part of Governor Nwifuru's broader education transformation agenda which also includes the launch of the Ebonyi Digital Education Platform (EDEP), teacher training programmes, and the enforcement of quality standards in both public and private schools. The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Donatus Ilang, described the project as "a generational investment in the future of Ebonyi's children."

Construction is ongoing across multiple sites simultaneously, with completion expected in phases. When fully delivered, the 39 schools will expand secondary school capacity significantly, reduce overcrowding in existing schools, and bring modern learning facilities closer to communities that have historically been underserved.
